How Pepdex is built

Pepdex indexes 67 peptides as an editorial reference. Here's exactly where the information comes from, how we rate it, what we check, and what we won't do. If something here is wrong, we want to know.

Where the information comes from

Every claim is sourced in this priority order. Higher tiers override lower ones when they conflict.

  1. 1
    FDA labels + Orange Book

Approval status, boxed warnings, contraindications, and dosing for any compound that is an approved drug come straight from the current FDA label.

  2. 2
    Phase 3 randomized trials

For investigational compounds (the GLP-1 pipeline, etc.), the published Phase 3 / Phase 2 readouts in NEJM, JAMA, Lancet, and manufacturer trial reports.

  3. 3
    Peer-reviewed literature (PubMed/PMC)

Mechanism, half-life, and pharmacology for research peptides without trials lean on the primary literature.

  4. 4
    Regulatory + anti-doping bodies

WADA Prohibited List (current year) and DEA scheduling for legal and sport-testing status.

  5. 5
    Community patterns, clearly labeled

Where only user-reported data exists, we say so explicitly and grade it Anecdotal. It's never presented as clinical fact.

How we rate the evidence

Every entry carries one of four evidence tiers so you know how much weight to put on it. The full scale (also on the Evidence Tiers page):

Strong

FDA-approved with multiple large Phase 3 trials. Effects, doses, and risks are well-characterized.

Moderate

Phase 2 or Phase 3 human data, or approved in major regulatory jurisdictions. Effects are reasonably well-mapped.

Limited

Some human evidence, often early-phase or single-trial. Strong animal data may exist. Use with caution.

Anecdotal

Predominantly user / community reports. Little or no large clinical-trial data. Treat as experimental.

What we verify, and when

  • Dose ranges, half-lives, routes, and schedules against primary pharmacology sources.
  • FDA approval status and boxed-warning status against the current label (these change, warnings get added and removed).
  • WADA / sport-testing status against the current Prohibited List.
  • Contraindications and the serious drug interactions for approved drugs.

What Pepdex does NOT do

  • We don't sell, ship, or take affiliate commission on peptides.
  • We don't tell you where to buy. The members-only Sources desk teaches you how to vet any source yourself.
  • We don't give medical advice or personal dosing instructions. Pepdex is educational reference; your protocol is between you and a qualified provider.
  • We don't dress community anecdote up as clinical proof. If the data is thin, the tier says so.

Found an error?

Health information has to be right. If you spot something off, a dose, a status, a half-life, email support@pepdex.co with the entry and your source. Real corrections ship fast, and we'd rather hear it from you than have it sit wrong.
