What is the half-life of Octreotide (Sandostatin)?
Octreotide (Sandostatin) has a reported half life of ~1.7 hours (immediate-release); LAR depot dosed every 4 weeks, given subcutaneous (IR) or intramuscular (LAR). That is why it is typically dosed tID for IR; once monthly for LAR. A shorter half life means more frequent dosing to keep blood levels steady, a longer one lets you space doses further apart.
