What to know about Semaglutide before you mix it
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, the same molecule as the brand-name drugs Ozempic, Wegovy and Rybelsus.

- Ozempic and the Wegovy pen hold ready-to-use liquid, and Rybelsus and Wegovy tablets are taken by mouth, so none of them is mixed. Only a freeze-dried powder vial needs reconstitution.

The common Semaglutide mix-up
Small starting amounts. 0.25 mg from a 5 mg vial mixed with 1 mL is only 5 units, which is hard to measure. Mixed with 2 mL it is 10 units, easier to read on the syringe.

A 10 mg vial at 250 mcg a shot holds 40 shots. Taken once a week, that is about 40 weeks. If your amount steps up before the vial is used up, it runs out sooner. Shots per vial for each size:

- How much BAC water (reconstitution solution) do I add to a 10 mg Semaglutide vial?
- Any amount works for the math; it only changes the strength. 10 mg in 1 mL is 10 mg/mL, in 2 mL 5 mg/mL, and in 3 mL 3.33 mg/mL. More water gives a bigger draw that is easier to read. If your product came with mixing directions, those set the volume.
- How many units is 250 mcg of Semaglutide?
- It depends on how much water is in the vial. From a 10 mg vial mixed with 2 mL, 250 mcg is 5 units (0.05 mL). With 1 mL it is 2.5 units; with 3 mL, 7.5 units.
- How many 250 mcg doses are in a 10 mg Semaglutide vial?
- 40. Taken once a week, that lasts about 40 weeks. If the amount steps up before the vial is used up, it runs out sooner. The water you add does not change the count, only the size of each draw.
- Is semaglutide the same as Ozempic?
- The active molecule is the same. Ozempic and the Wegovy pen are branded semaglutide injections at fixed doses. A powder vial can end up at a very different concentration from a pen, so work from the mg printed on your own vial rather than a pen's numbers.
